Mother’s Day Photo Contest: The Winner

Mother’s Day Photo Contest: The Winner

The results of our first annual Mother’s Day Photo Contest are in!

First, Julie and I just want to say a huge *Thank You* to everyone who shared our project, who took the time to submit these amazing pictures, and many others besides, and to everyone who took a moment of their day to vote for their favorites. Thank you, thank you!

If you recall, our theme for this year in a celebration of the varied paths that motherhood takes is “what motherhood looks like to you.” Our grand prize is a gift certificate to Up On The Hill children’s boutique online and in Shepherdstown, WV. We selected 10 images for voting on our Facebook page. You selected the top five by “liking” your favorites. The top five were then assigned 1-5 in order of most votes to least. Before we share the winner here they are:

No. 5 – by Megan

No. 4 – “One of the best things in the world is holding my children while they sleep. I use this time to slow down and take in every part of them.” By Addison

No. 3 – “She’s somebody’s hero” by Emily A.

No. 2- “This won’t hurt a bit, mom! ” by Kelsi

No 1 – “Life is lovely” by Emily C.

Then, in the interest of complete and unbiased fairness, we asked the True Random Number Generator for help. The winner, Mr. Generator?

Congratulations Megan! We hope you find a special Mother’s Day treat at Up On The Hill!

We really couldn’t think of a better way to christen our new website and we’re already looking forward to next year! One final thank you to all our participants wouldn’t be complete without a thank you to Amii, owner of Up On The Hill and mother to three beautiful babies including micro premie Oliver. Happy Mother’s Day, Amii.

“I remember making sure I captured her last day as an infant. Naked and outside seemed fitting.”
