Birth stories are important, but so are all the other stories of joy and growth, struggle and triumph that come tumbling after that day.

We invite you to share those stories with us in the Life After Birth project. What was it like to navigate a NICU stay? What it was like to exclusively pump? What was it like to go back to work? What was it like to have a tiny new life so intertwined with yours? What lessons did you learn in parenthood? What challenges did you overcome? What do you want our world to know about what it is really like to be a parent? Your story is so important.

Inspired by The Photo Doula and the Last Latch Project we want to document the real journeys of local families. Each journey, no matter how long, is worth celebrating.

Bergen meets with families in the last days of breastfeeding, pumping or formula feeding to capture photographs of the reality of weaning and share the stories of the relationship through the all challenges and the joy, the sweetness and the bitter.

Each family will receive 3-5 photos from their photo session and their story posted to the Two Rivers blog.

Who is eligible?

For The Life After Birth Project: Any one is welcome, even families who are not clients of Two Rivers, regardless of the age of your baby.

For Weaning Stories: families within roughly 25 miles of Lovettsville, Va who think they are in the last days of breastfeeding, no matter the age of their baby or the bumps in their journey are eligible for the gift of photography.

How much does it cost?

This project close to our hearts and totally free! We just ask for your blog submission in exchange and permission to use your photos.
