YOUR STORY IS POWERFUL

It’s no secret how we feel about birth stories. We think it is imperative both for families to be able to tell their stories and be celebrated and for the community to honor the strength and joy of its members. Our western culture has so few ceremonies that recognize the changes each new child brings and sharing our stories is one way to close that circle.   Birth stories inform our understandings of ourselves and the vibrant variations that shine from our children from their very first moments.

STORYTELLING INSPIRES US TO HEAL, IT INSPIRES US TO LEARN, IT INSPIRES US TO CHANGE.

Our stories are celebrations of birth center waterbirths, surprise unassisted homebirths (we’ve got two of those), healthy babies after IVF journeys, Cesarean births, VBACs and HBACs, micropremies born into the dedicated and knowledgeable hands of NICU staff and 43-weekers born under the watch of patient and knowledgeable midwives, stillbirthdays and rainbow babies, first babies, fifth babies, big brothers and sisters, families born at the same moment. See the whole project below.

Who is eligible?

Anyone! You don’t need to be a client of Two Rivers to share your story. Even families who have participated before are welcome to submit more than one story.

What is required?

A text-format retelling of your birth story and 2-5 photos that you have permission to share. We may make minor grammatical or formatting corrections but we will never change your story.

Stories are posted here to the Two Rivers Childbirth blog. See all the current submissions below.

How do you even write a birth story?
